Have you ever seen a GOAT do Gymnastics??!

Have you ever seen a GOAT do Gymnastics??! No, me neither…. Not, until that is, Simone Biles was christened as “The Greatest Of All Time” G.O.A.T.!!) at this year’s World Championships when she won a further 5 GOLD medals taking her total to a record 25 medals.

Simone Biles is, without doubt, in a league of her own when it comes to gymnastics excellence and continues to push the boundaries of the sport with another two moves named after her in this World Championships alone (including a controversial one for her dismount off beam which did not receive the difficulty rating which many believe should have been awarded).

If, like me, you grew up watching Nadia Comaneci flying through the air and pointing to the TV screen telling your parents you “want to be like her”, these days, with much more technology at our finger tips, it’s easier than ever before to watch the major competitions, either live or multiple times over via iPlayer or Youtube. It’s not uncommon for many sports clubs to see an increase in members following the Olympics or major World Championships and here at Spiral Gymnastics Club we are no exception.

So, whilst we may not have Simone Biles here at Spiral we are incredibly proud of each and every one of our gymnasts, right from our pre-schoolers through to our squad gymnasts. This year has seen some changes in our management team but we continue to go from strength to strength and our focus remains on providing a safe and fun environment for our members, regardless of their ability.

As our Term Time classes return from our half term break we are raring to go and have lots of exciting things planned in the run up to Christmas including badge testing on the 30th November and our Christmas parties on 14th December. Whilst there is a waiting list for some of our more popular classes, we have spaces in our Gym Tots classes and open sessions for pre-schoolers (Parent and Child)…. so if you want to get your child active and more involved in gymnastics, we’d love to see you (and we promise… no real goats!)
